“Trauma” isn’t just the big, dramatic events. It’s ANYTHING that overwhelms your ability to adapt to your circumstances.

Prolonged periods of stress, lack of support, or chronic health conditions can all be experienced as trauma and potentially get stored in your physical and energy bodies. This is why sometimes things stay with you despite telling yourself it was no big deal, that you should be over it.

Dysregulation in your nervous system may take the form of anxiety, depression, procrastination, physical pain, digestive issues, immune system challenges, or feeling overwhelmed more often than not. Somatic practices help to restore a regulated state in your nervous system so you can move towards healing.

Somatic Sessions

Mid-way through the pandemic, I embarked on an exploration to better under the roots of stress, trauma, and the lasting impact body/mind/spirit. I was noticing that the more dysregulated a client’s nervous system was, the less effective the energy work and all their other wellness practices became.

The physiological impacts alone made me realize it was time to engage in focused training so I could better support my clients to reach lasting healing. I’m now certified in Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy.

Soma refers to the wisdom of the body, learning to decode the messages of our physical sensations to better understand the path of healing.

Somatic sessions are intended for clients where nervous system dysregulation is a core issue. You might not even recognize this is you, so if I feel you’d benefit from this approach, I’ll let you know.

Sessions are shorter at 45 minutes to allow space for you to integrate the experience afterwards. We move slowly and gently to explore the sensations and information present in your body in realtime. Together we’ll use simple practices to create a shift towards a more balanced and regulated state and over time, you learn to self-regulate more effectively in your day-to-day life.
