Time to Bloom

The wild ride continues and I hope you're finding moments of gentleness along the way.

It often happens that client sessions, for a few weeks at time, present variations on a theme. Most recently, bloom where you're planted.

It really is a brave choice to accept where you've landed, whether long-term or short-term, and bloom. It can feel easier to pivot, move to greener pastures, or focus on all the ways it seems impossibly hard to sprout, let alone bloom where one's planted.

My thoughts have been increasingly drawn to the dandelions I see growing in the sidewalk cracks. The wee chamomile flowers that seeded in my yard in the most inopportune areas, tucked into the gravel, no water in sight.

I've considered times in my own life where I've landed in spaces, places, and with people where it felt nearly impossible to bloom. There are times when it's necessary and appropriate to relocate or change course. And situations where necessary or big changes will take time.

The more I garden the more I realize the blooming is never particularly easy, no matter where the seedling lands, sprouts, or gets planted. What does it take to bloom where you're planted? Here are some considerations gleaned from recent sessions:

🌸   What might you shift, even in a micro movement, that helps you experience more ease right now?

🌸   What do you need today? What is one step that brings you closer to meeting that need?

🌸   If you are where you are, what do you imagine the blooming could look like, feel like – where's the space of possibility?

🌸  If you're clear change is needed, what is the most gentle, nurturing, compassionate way you might approach it?

Anaïs Nin, said it well, "And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."

May we each find the courage to bloom where we're planted – in this moment, on this day, in this life. Our neighborhoods and communities need more flowers rooting in and blooming to bring beauty and hope.
